Light Bulb Remover

This technique is from Det. Dave Kappler of the Cherry Hill Police Department in Cherry Hill New Jersey.

Occasionally you will encounter a situation where a suspect will unscrewed a light bulb partially to turn the light out. You do not want to handle it to remove it for processing, so dust the bottom of it with a brush and powder to see if there is any fingerprint that you might disturb. Using a child’s dart, push it against the bottom of the light bulb and you can use that to unscrew it from the fixture without disturbing any fingerprints on the sides of the light bulb. It can be a little difficult to handle in the dark, you will want to have a ceramic fixture handy that you can turn the bulb over and screw it into for easy handling. The ceramic fixture can be purchased at any local hardware store for around one dollar. Once you have the light bulb in the ceramic fixture you can take that ceramic fixture and put it into your super glue tank for processing.
